A Mind of its Own

Passage #4 of the 2019 series in CCB#5 took two months to dry and in doing so showed contractions, turning it into a wavy kind of wrinkled textures.

Close inspection with a magnifyer showed areas with numerous tiny matchlike sticks with a little ball on top (spore capsules?).

Are these structures due to seasonal opportunistic invaders, feasting on a drying scoby? Or can the yeasts in this syncytium escape from the scoby under drying conditions?

I need a microscope and have a closer look.
