Blending materials and PAPUR mash creates new composites, with interesting features & looks, touch ‘n feel, applicability.
Here we report the first result using banana tree stem fibre (kindly provided by Gentil Ndoba, CityBuddiez, Kigali Rwanda) with and native or bleached PAPUR.
The ‘textile’ has a rough felt-like appearance, with fibres well embedded in a matrix of bacterial cellulose. Quite supple and very tear resistant. Some treatments change the suppleness and deepen the color.
